One of the coolest parts of living at the Olympic Training Center is being with the athletes 24/7. These guys are Olympians. And it’s pretty awesome to say we’ve lived with them.
It’s an exciting time around here. The Games are 13 days, 17 hours, and 26 minutes away. Not that I’m counting or anything. But the first people have started leaving for London, and while it’s going to be quiet around here for a while, it’s a great feeling knowing that they’ll all be in London, competing for our country, for our Team USA.
One of those special moments came tonight when the OTC family and the Colorado Springs community came out to wish our USA Boxing team well before they leave for London tomorrow morning. Connor’s close with Rau’shee Warren after doing video shoots with him, and Jamel Herring spoke at our USOC Town Hall meeting, so it was great to see those guys again and wish them well before they leave.
There was a considerable crowd gathered on the Olympic Path to wish Team USA well, and all the boxers signed posters for their fans, thanking them for the well wishes. The best part was to be able to say goodbye to the team and wish them well in person before they head off to represent our country.
I love living at the OTC for a lot of reasons, but being able to personally say “good luck” to so many Team USA Olympians definitely trumps them all.
