When in Denver…

Calli, Courtnee, Connor, and I stopped to visit the Coors Brewery in Golden, Colorado before Connor and I headed to Red Rocks in Morrison for the big O.A.R. concert.

With plans to see O.A.R. in concert at Red Rocks in Morrison, Colorado, last night, Connor and I decided to spend the day in the Denver area to explore before we had to head over to the park for the show. With Calli and Courtnee, we decided to walk around downtown Denver because it was such a beautiful day.

Connor chose the spot for lunch, a pizza place called the Mellow Mushroom, one of his favorites in Athens. I’d never heard of them, but since he made such a good food choice with Culver’s earlier in the week, I decided it’d be worth a shot. Much to my delight and Connor’s dismay, upon opening the menu, they offered “hoagies,” the Philadelphia word for a sub sandwich that Connor hates. My cheese pizza was delicious and definitely a good choice! Afterwards, we walked around a pedestrian-only street called the 16th Street Mall, one of my new favorite places in Denver. It was such a perfect day and with all the people milling around, it definitely made it a beautiful afternoon.

We then decided that on our way to Morrison, we’d stop at the Coors Brewery in Golden, Colorado, only a few miles from Red Rocks. The place was absolutely jam-packed, so we instead opted for the “short tour,” which consisted of going to the lounge, where you could sample Coors beers and their new test market beers, as well. We opted for the lemonade and Dr. Pepper, while Calli and Courtnee sampled the various brews. It was definitely neat to see where the famous Rocky Mountain beer comes from, and made for an interesting pit stop on the way to Red Rocks.
