December 5th, the Temple Owls will play a very different game against the Villanova Wildcats, with an entirely different meaning to the student body, when we take on the ‘Cats at the Pavilion in men’s basketball. But today, the women’s club soccer team played Villanova at home on Geasey Field.
After finishing an assignment for MURL in the morning, I walked over to the turf field on 15th Street and met up with my parents so we could watch Meghan’s last soccer game of the season. We had some beautiful weather–a very unseasonable 70 degrees for the middle of November in Philadelphia. Personally, I was just excited to see her play at home (I didn’t have to drive anywhere) and in mild weather (it wasn’t freezing cold and I wasn’t bundled up in blankets). Regardless of outcome, it was going to be a much more enjoyable game than the one I attended at St. Joe’s last weekend.
Meghan played a good game and the Owls were able to score twice early, and even a goal by Wildcats in the second half couldn’t make up the difference. The girls decorated the fence along 15th Street with posters for the senior girls and took a cute team photo afterwards. I was just happy to get to watch another of Meghan’s games, hang out with my mom while my dad paced the sidelines, and bask in the sunshine on an unusual November day.
